Author Notes

7th Mar 2020, 5:00 PM Has anybody had this happen to them before? I have. (And I didn’t have a soft mat to land on either)! Thankfully the only real injury I sustained was minor whiplash and maybe a bruise.

Kat’s been getting well acquainted with the floor lately. Sometimes that’s how life goes

7th Mar 2020, 7:54 PM At first glance, it strikes me as humorous that Kat wears a sock on her prosthetic foot. I looked it up, and that's apparently typical among people with prosthetic feet, but it's something I'd never thought about.
7th Mar 2020, 8:17 PM Lol. I actually drew her without a sock on her prosthetic at the beginning of this scene, (and on top of that the sock that she was wearing on her other foot was different than the socks she has on right now!) I just completely forgot about it, and I drew her wearing socks on both her feet, but now I’ve drawn it this way so many times that I can’t really go back lol.

I had an uncle who had a prosthetic leg, and he always wore shoes on both feet, and I’m assuming socks too—I’d imagine it’s easier to slip on a shoe when you have a sock on.
7th Mar 2020, 8:30 PM Great angles and shot choices here! Feels like the flow is getting more intuitive to follow :). Kat's determination and resilience will take her far I think, at some point Kairo's gotta be like "does she KNOW how to give up?" XD

Oh man yeah I've fallen exactly like this on a tile floor, it's not fun haha.
7th Mar 2020, 10:54 PM Thank you so much!

Yeah I think resilience is what Kairo is looking for here.

Yeowch, that would probably hurt a little harder than me hitting the regular ground lol
8th Mar 2020, 8:56 AM Not backwards, but one time I did fall forwards giving me a bloody face. That's fun when you're a little kid who's easily scared/intimidated :D

Buuuut what matters isn't how often you fall down, but what your attitude is as you get back up.
8th Mar 2020, 9:07 AM Aw I’m sorry, that sounds awful!

Too true—I probably didn’t have the best attitude getting back up when that happened, but hopefully I’m a more mature person now.
8th Mar 2020, 10:43 AM That second panel could have been concussion time.
8th Mar 2020, 11:12 AM Maybe concussions will come sooner than you think XD
9th Mar 2020, 6:11 PM There’s still a chance she can rebound against Kairo in this practice match, but I doubt it’ll be playing fair (for whatever that’s worth in superhuman combat)
9th Mar 2020, 8:14 PM Haha you might be on to something there!
11th Mar 2020, 1:47 PM Good page! It makes sense that Kat's still frustrated, but it seems like Kairo's gradually getting her to loosen up and push her fighting style a bit further. I was thinking about this while re-reading some earlier pages too - the way that you write characters reacting to each other is interesting, it feels really natural.

(Yep that's happened to me before. My cousin is unusually good at doing backflips so she tried to teach me how to do them once, it didn't go very well. x_x)
11th Mar 2020, 2:45 PM You’re very observant! And thank you so much, I’m really excited that you think it’s natural ‘cause that’s the idea. Thanks for taking the time to read and even re-read the story too!

Aw man, ouch, I am terrified of doing backflips.
