Author Notes

13th Jun 2020, 6:00 PM I’m still getting used to drawing Yoshi, I haven’t drawn her as much as the others.

Kat’s obviously exaggerating, but Derek probably wouldn’t be pleased if he found out that she botched the opportunity he worked to get them on her first day. Of course whether it’s actually botched remains to be seen—it seems Kairo has his head on straight, even after getting knocked unconscious.

Ooh by the way, my Patreon is up! I’m gonna be posting fun bonus comics and other stuff if anyone is interested and/or would like to support the comic itself. Thanks for taking a look!

13th Jun 2020, 7:37 PM Echoing Patreon support!! DO IT GUYS

Kairo's such a solid dude for that :D. I like the body language of Kat freezing up very realistic, I tried a pose like that earlier and failed lol
13th Jun 2020, 9:38 PM Haha thanks again, bro <3 I’ll be posting another mini-comic next weekend

Ah yeah, Kairo can be surprisingly compassionate. I say surprisingly because he’s not exactly the most morally consistent guy, as implied at the beginning. We’ll see more of that soon here too.

And thanks!! I used a 3D poser model as a ref—though I can’t remember if it was difficult or not, some of these pages are a bit of a blur to me now XD
14th Jun 2020, 9:54 AM Some would say Kairo is too lenient here, but I do get it. If the 'culprit' feels genuinely bad about what they did and is determined to do better, no need to punish them further.
14th Jun 2020, 10:47 AM Kairo is being merciful to Kat, however he also doesn’t want to lose his new job, which undoubtedly will happen if Kat and Evan are banned from the Secret Police for being too dangerous.

Kairo actually has another good reason for not wanting paramedics to come, and it’s not that he doesn’t want any medical attention. You’ll see more of that the next page.
14th Jun 2020, 9:50 PM I do love that someone suggested it — the divide between how fragile brains are to impact irl and how much they’re often made of iron in fiction can mess with your suspension of disbelief. And the touches of realism make the superpowers seem that much more fantastic!
14th Jun 2020, 10:08 PM Haha I’m so glad!! That’s basically my favourite thing. Take something real and add a pinch of bizarre cartoony logic, or take something cartoony and add a pinch of realism. It makes it more relatable and fun either way!
15th Jun 2020, 8:16 AM C'mon Yoshi, don't make her feel bad. 😣
Also, woo woo! Patreon!!😁
15th Jun 2020, 10:51 AM Haha she probably makes people feel bad all the time without even meaning too. She just cold, bro.

Woot-woot! 😆😽
23rd Oct 2021, 12:48 PM Me: No, listen to Yoshi and call the paramedics. XD Thank goodness for real life not having super-powered accidents like this!
23rd Oct 2021, 4:50 PM Yeah XD I don't always know the best way to handle tricky fictional situations either, sometimes I just guess and hope it goes over okay
