Author Notes

20th Jun 2020, 6:00 PM I’ve got like, one more page and then this scene is OVER!! Yay, new setting XD but I suppose that will come with its own drawing challenges, especially since I’ve gotten so used to drawing this training room.

The one emotion Yoshi shows frequently is annoyance. She can be subtly irritable.

Oh and by the way, here’s the new promotional banner for S&B:

20th Jun 2020, 6:04 PM It would be pretty easy to construct a white lie to cover a black eye. I've gotten them in far more bizarre ways than being punched by a mutant.
20th Jun 2020, 6:39 PM Haha maybe you’re right!
20th Jun 2020, 6:31 PM Huh, let’s hope that they have a discreet medic of their own in case Kairo has a concussion in there
20th Jun 2020, 6:42 PM I’m sure they’ve got somebody :)
20th Jun 2020, 7:55 PM Have a good excuse as to why a new trainee was able to give you a black eye 🤷‍♂️.
20th Jun 2020, 9:07 PM “She...caught me off guard? Well she did!”
21st Jun 2020, 4:57 AM Eeeugh, I wasn't even thinking about those possible consequences. People just have to be greedy prejudiced idiots...
22nd Jun 2020, 6:47 PM I think they’re more just terrified of all anomalies because of super-villains abusing their powers in the past. Which is understandable in a way. They should be cautious and try to prevent people from getting hurt, but this would obviously be an extreme reaction to that.
22nd Jun 2020, 11:47 PM Yeah, true. Now I'm curious what kind of supervillains there were :D
23rd Jun 2020, 6:33 AM Yeah, some were pretty scary! :O
25th Jun 2020, 4:16 PM It's interesting that Kairo seems to know how to keep things calm and de-escalate the situation when it's needed. I don't blame Kat for feeling kind of rattled by everything that's happened. (The page title is spot-on for conveying the feeling behind this page, it's a nice detail. :D)
25th Jun 2020, 7:28 PM Yeah, I think generally speaking, Kairo is very calm and practical. And sometimes it’s a great way to balance out some of the other characters :)

Thanks so much! I love when I can think of a subtle theme for a title instead of something more obvious. And now that you mention it, I’m realizing that this page title describes not only the theme of this page pretty well, but the overall theme of this entire story/episode too. (Hopefully that doesn’t spoil too much)! ;D
19th Feb 2021, 1:31 AM Technically, he isn't wrong, and I bet he "signed a waiver" for situations like this as well.
19th Feb 2021, 8:46 AM He probably did at some point!
