“I’m sorry, but you’ve thrown off Sunstrike’s groove.”

*throws Kairo out the window*

And ooh y’all I got some news! I may have started...a YouTube channel!! It’s (sort of) a draw-with-me channel where I talk about comics and storytelling, and even though I don’t like my voice I LOVE to talk, so I can’t wait to make more videos :D (there’s two up as of this page’s release).

Comments:

27th Mar 2021, 1:51 PM Wait, Kat's got green eyelashes? I should have noticed that sooner! it makes a lot of sense.

I should try one of those multicolored gradient backgrounds someday, that Kairo panel looks kinda cool.
27th Mar 2021, 2:03 PM Kat actually has only stopped wearing mascara as of this chapter, before her eyelashes were always drawn black. My friend made me realize that her eyelashes would be green when I made a bonus comic strip about Kat’s legs “growing grass” when she doesn’t shave (^w^) so I decided that Kat has been wearing some makeup and now I’m trying out the natural look heheh.

Thanks, gradients are too much fun to play around with!
27th Mar 2021, 5:10 PM Better get some floor repair repairmen ready.

If it makes Kat feel any better, here's a quote that may help. "Protagonist-chan from Sunstrike and Bluemist; if you ever need motivation for doing push ups with weight on your back, here's Protagonist-chan from Demon Hunters doing push ups with a weight on her back."
That's probably the most weeaboo thing I ever wrote.
27th Mar 2021, 7:06 PM Haha maybe!!

Cool beans, and yes I’m a bit of a weaboo myself heh (。・・。)
27th Mar 2021, 8:41 PM I wonder if the weeb will manifest in the kids somehow.
27th Mar 2021, 9:00 PM I mean, all three of these characters already have Japanese influence/heritage - even Yoshi is Japanese too actually. Later on there will be other cultures as well but for now there is basically just Japanese and Canadian culture in this story.
27th Mar 2021, 9:47 PM I can probably guess where the Japanese culture occurs, any places where Canadian culture stood out so far?
27th Mar 2021, 10:22 PM Well maybe there isn't anything super noticeable, but the story is set in Canada (albeit a fictional city). In a few pages there will be a very brief discussion about Evan's immigrating to Canada from Japan.
27th Mar 2021, 11:47 PM Hmm. I wonder if you by any chance visited a real life counterpart of that city before.
28th Mar 2021, 12:44 AM Sure, kinda. I like to think that it’s a mashup of my city and my father’s hometown...but it’s also a city next to the ocean somehow X’D soooo yeah I’m not sure, it’s not 100% developed yet.
28th Mar 2021, 10:45 AM Sort of like Valley City in a way (fake name too). Seems like this saves time on managing the story's local setting and coming up with worldbuilding.
28th Mar 2021, 12:57 PM Haha yep
27th Mar 2021, 6:44 PM Nice work with the YouTube channel! Your voice isn't how I imagine it in my head when I read what you write. I guess I expected you to have more of a stereotypical Canadian accent. I think everyone hates the way their voice sounds, so don't worry about that too much. Your content is good so far!

I like Kat's expression in the third panel, too. Faces like that are always fun to draw.

27th Mar 2021, 7:15 PM Yeah I didn’t expect anyone to imagine me sounding like I do (´∀`*)
This made me laugh because I don’t even really know what a stereotypical Canadian accent sounds like except for those exaggerated ones on cartoons and such—I think it’s only northern Canadians who have a noticeably different accent, and I’m very southern, quite close to the border actually. I probably pronounce a few words differently but other than that ┐(´~`)┌

Of course this is assuming you’re comparing my accent to an average American accent haha. And don’t worry, I’m not offended in any way, it might be cool to have a different accent!

Thanks so much for the kind words!
27th Mar 2021, 11:04 PM Come on, Kairo. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Forget the foot, just stand on Kat's back.
28th Mar 2021, 12:45 AM That image is too funny! X’D
28th Mar 2021, 4:42 AM Next she pushes up SO hard (involving another explosion) that she flies into the ceiling, crushing Kairo's leg with it.

...I mean that wouldn't NOT fit the established pattern so far XD
28th Mar 2021, 12:59 PM Ohmigosh, X v X that'd be amazing and awful at the same time
28th Mar 2021, 7:22 AM Ok, so "Drill Sergeant" it is then!
I will refer to my previous post why I think this is good.
28th Mar 2021, 1:07 PM You got it! And yeah, it's still a good post :D
