4th Dec 2021, 12:00 PMKat: what is even the POINT *yeets the tiny weight into oblivion*
Kat definitely has a little bit of pride issues at least. And speaking of arm muscles…while I’m nowhere near the level of Kat—I think my arms have gotten a bit stronger lately due to lifting heavy stuff at work. That always makes me a little happy :3
4th Dec 2021, 12:23 PMcontrol is always more important the strength. and looking at the difference in how she curls in the last two frames gives this comment an "!"
This is easy enough to translate into any discipline... as a guitarist, accuracy and timing is more important than speed. You don't rip on an Van halen riff if you can't play a scale accurately!!!
basics!

on a side note, {dad mode on} glad to see you're building up strength from your job! bit of advice though, don't overdo it, you're not invincible, and that's an easy thing to lose sight of when you're young. {dad mode off}
4th Dec 2021, 12:40 PMTo be fair to Kat though, it looks like she's working shoulders with the larger weights. Her form is correct in both panels, but we can't tell from the static image if it's too strenuous of a weight in the first.
4th Dec 2021, 3:22 PMYeah, my brother is a guitarist too, so that sounds familiar ;) wise words!!
Yeah…my body is killing me right now, but it’s not just the occasional heavy stuff—I think it’s mostly the preparing drinks at breakneck speeds (^_^;) some days are like that unfortunately, can’t be helped, except to do stretches at home, which I should get to here. But thank you, “dad” X’D
4th Dec 2021, 1:14 PMKairo better watch out Kat doesn't yeet the weights, cause I have a funny feeling they would be (accidentally) yeeted in his direction :'D
4th Dec 2021, 1:20 PMAs someone who trained weightlifting before, I'm curious how Kat's overhead press is wrong; my guess is her arm position is too wide.
4th Dec 2021, 8:20 PMLet me know if you need to draw Kat lifting them correctly or incorrectly. I'm also curious how heavy the weights are in this page.
4th Dec 2021, 10:00 PMI gotta try the 50 lb overhead dumbbell press sometime; I can definitely do the 25 lbs. If I can successfully overhead press 50 lbs comfortably while standing, am I now counted as a superpowered mutant?I can rep 95 lbs and 115 lbs with the barbell. Of course, the physics there is different.
4th Dec 2021, 10:15 PMKat may be very strong, but her strength isn’t exactly superhuman—she can’t snap a metal rod in half or throw someone over a building X’D but yeah, I’m probably guilty of some cartoony physics on occasion
5th Dec 2021, 1:15 AMPerhaps she's more shock force (striking) than sustained force (weightlifting + wrestling); I try to train both. I went to the gym late night and found that indeed I can overhead press 50 lb dumbbells 5 times, but barely (got a few more after that set though). Of course, I probably outweigh Kat by a significant amount, but then again, I have a more core and bottom heavy build.
4th Dec 2021, 3:00 PMOh, don't look so disappointed, girl. Just wait until tomorrow. If you're sore in muscles you didn't even know you had, that's how you know the reps are working.
4th Dec 2021, 5:06 PMIt's a line from Karate Kid. The kid expects instruction in martial arts and the first thing his teacher says to him is to fix his wall.
4th Dec 2021, 7:20 PMKat looks nice with braided hair. I also think you demonstrated that leg grab and fall well, so good job on that.
I've been doing pushups regularly, so I've been getting stronger too. Just the other day I was lifting a large cast iron pan we have in our house, and I suddenly realized it didn't feel as heavy as it used to. It was funny when it dawned on me.
Haha, I love push-ups! I usually do them once a week or so…or every other week (⌒_⌒;) I’d love to do them more, if only my arms weren’t usually sore but the time I get home lol.
We have a big cast iron pan too, I kinda hate it—the big huge space hogger ;3 but it is good for cooking.
Glad to hear you’re getting strong, that’s a great thing <3
6th Dec 2021, 2:51 PMHaha, Kairo's not giving her any slack, makes sense training for a life and death job gotta be prepared :) . That pose and background where she's falling down are really cool.
Dang, that look in the last panel, disappointment to the MAX.
6th Dec 2021, 7:52 PMPanel 3 is SO NICE! I told you that already, but I have to say it again. XD I just love it when characters 'break out' of panels, so to speak.
8th Dec 2021, 9:09 AMHmm, didn't look like she was having a hard time with the heavyweights to me🤔 what the hey, Kairo?
Did he grab her foot in the first panel? I can tell he tripped her in the second with his foot but it's hard to see the follow through with what happened with the first leg. Maybe the scene should be zoomed out more?
