16th Jul 2022, 12:00 PM Just trying to make these read in a cohesive way is a rewarding ~~headache~~ challenge.
Thanks for your patience with me as I learn stuff!

Announcement: I’m taking a hiatus from S&B so I can hopefully finish volume 1 of TAP (it’ll be around 50 pages I’m estimating, I’ve finished 17 as of this post), and also to give me more time to learn stuff for my new job!
I’m sorry if this seems out of nowhere. I want to give S&B the full attention it deserves, and I definitely don’t wanna risk half-assing this fight scene. I uploaded S&B biweekly for a year and a half without taking a hiatus, so I feel like it’s alright to take a break. But I am sorry if this is disappointing to anyone.

I’ll post more details next week hopefully! Does anyone wanna do a Q&A in the meantime?

For action scenes like this, the only suggestion I have is speed lines, and those flashy star-shaped thingies at impact points.
(If I may post a little example here)

That stuff helps a LOT for adding some visual "oomph". You've got some of it going here and it works well! But notice in the first panel there's fewer of them and so that one feels more "static", whereas in the other two you feel the characters' movement more.

Anyway, no pressure. It's a learning process, and you're definitely getting better. Good luck with everything!

18th Jul 2022, 12:19 PM The way I was intending to draw it at least is that each character is using their dominant hand for jabbing, and their non-dominant hand for blocking with the tonfa.

So Kairo is right handed, while Evan is left handed.
